How do I install Addictive Drums?

XLN Audio provides a separate installer for Addictive Drums at www.xlnaudio.com/install. To access the installer, you will need your Addictive Drums Product Key.

If you purchased SONAR Platinum as a download, you will find the Addictive Drums 2 Product Key in your Cakewalk Store account listed under “Connected Products”.

If you purchased the boxed version of SONAR Platinum, you will find a card with a redemption code.

Do I need an internet connection to install Addictive Drums 2?

An internet connection is required for installation, but a constant internet connection is not required in order to use Addictive Drums after installing.

Note: If you do not have an internet connection on your DAW computer, XLN Audio does maintain an offline installer for older versions of Addictive Drums that you can download from another computer. There are some limitations, however. More details can be found at www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013325.

I have installed XLN Audio Addictive Drums 2, but SONAR is not detecting it

If you have installed Addictive Drums 2 prior to installing SONAR or any other Cakewalk software installed, it may have installed to a different directory, such as C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins, instead of the standard directory of C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins. We recommend running a Windows search on your computer for Addictive Drums 2.dll to locate where the plug-in component is installed.

When the plug-in location has been found, you can add this custom path to SONAR's VST Scan Paths list under Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings. Click the Scan button so SONAR will scan this new directory for the addition of Addictive Drums 2.
