To scroll the Control Bar

If you manually resize modules, it is possible that not all modules will fit on-screen simultaneously. If this happens, the Control Bar becomes scrollable so you can quickly access all open modules.

There are several methods you can use to scroll:

Click the scroll buttons on the right side and left side of the Control Bar. You can quickly jump to the first, last, next, and previous module.

Click an empty space in any module and drag left/right.

Point to the Control Bar and use the mouse wheel.

If you have a touch screen monitor, swipe the Control Bar left/right.

 

Note: If you drag a module’s gripper when reordering modules, the Control Bar will automatically scroll when you reach the right or left edge.

Tip: You can hide the gripper in each module and make more horizontal space available to show controls. To do so, right-click the Control bar and select Lock Module Order on the pop-up menu. For details, see To lock the module order.

To collapse the Control Bar

In addition to collapsing individual modules, you can also collapse the entire Control Bar. This shrinks the Control Bar both vertically and horizontally, listing modules in a horizontal row.

Do one of the following:

Right-click the Control Bar and select Collapse Control Bar on the pop-up menu.

Press SHIFT+C.

To temporarily show controls in a collapsed module, point to the collapsed module, or click the collapsed module. For details, see To temporarily show controls in a collapsed module.

To expand the Control Bar, do one of the following:

Right-click the Control Bar and select Expand Control Bar on the pop-up menu.

Press SHIFT+C.

To lock the module order

If you have arranged the Control Bar modules the way you want, you can lock the current order to prevent moving modules accidentally. When locked, the vertical gripper is removed from each module, thereby increasing the screen real-estate that is available to show Control Bar controls. By locking the module order, you might be able to reclaim enough space to show one or more additional modules.

To lock the module order, right-click the Control bar and select Lock Module Order on the pop-up menu.

The gripper is removed from each module, and you can no longer drag modules to sort them.

To lock the module order and justify

You can space modules evenly across the Control Bar. To do so, arrange the Control Bar modules the way you want, then right-click the Control bar and select Lock Module Order and Justify on the pop-up menu.

When locked, the vertical gripper is removed from each module, thereby increasing the screen real-estate that is available to show Control Bar controls, and the visible modules are distributed evenly across the Control Bar.

To dock/undock the Control Bar

Right-click the Control Bar and select one of the following commands:

Dock Control Bar at Top. Select this option to dock the Control Bar above the Track view.

Dock Control Bar at Bottom. Select this option to dock the Control Bar below the Track view.

Float Control Bar. Select this option to undock the Control Bar.

Tip: You can click any blank area in the Control Bar and drag the Control Bar to the desired position.

To reset the Control Bar to its default settings

Right-click the Control Bar, point to Options, then select Reset Control Bar on the pop-up menu.
