Musikmesse, Frankfurt, Hall 5.1, Stand C78 (05 March, 2003) - Cakewalk, developer of the world's best-selling music and sound software for Windows, announced it acquired VST Adapter Technology from U.K. based FXpansion, a leading independent developer of soft synths, audio plug ins and the VST-DX adapter. As a result of this acquisition Cakewalk gains exclusive publishing and distribution rights of the FXpansion VST adapter technology. In addition, all support and updates for registered FXpansion adapter users will be handled directly through Cakewalk. Answers to questions about the acquisition can be found at www.cakewalk.com/press/FXpansion-faq.asp.
The FXpansion VST adapter is highly regarded in the industry for its sample accurate timing, full support for the latest DXi and VST plug in specifications, MIDI and DX8 envelope automation, and full preset management implementation.
"The acquisition of the FXpansion VST Adapter source code and binaries is in line with a key tenet of our development philosophy, to provide our customers with choice and flexibility in expanding their studios," commented Michael Hoover, VP of product marketing for Cakewalk. "In addition to the hundreds of DX and DXi plug-ins available, incorporating this technology into Project5 gives our customers the option to use freeware and shareware VST plug-ins readily available on the internet in their musical creations," added Hoover.
