That Audition crash has been confirmed as a bug with the older CFX plugins. It's best to use the Q plugin in realtime, then apply the FX when you have the desired setting. You should find your realtime FX under your inserts at the top of each channel strip. Just right-click on the little blue box below where it says "Trim."
