Virtual Controller/Keyboard enhancements

Direct access

The on-screen virtual controller has two modes: Piano Keyboard and Computer Keyboard. You can now access either mode directly via menu commands and keyboard shortcuts.

To open the Piano Keyboard, go to Views > Virtual Controllers > Piano Keyboard, or press ALT+SHIFT+0.

To open the Computer Keyboard, go to Views > Virtual Controllers > Computer Keyboard, or press ALT+0.

Note: The CAPS LOCK key no longer toggles between the Piano Keyboard and Computer Keyboard.

Improved keyboard shortcut handling

The virtual computer keyboard no longer blocks the following keyboard shortcuts when it has focus:

R (record)

DELETE

Any shortcut that uses the CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT keys. This allows you to open views, access menus, and use any multi-key shortcut such as CTRL+S for Save, CTRL+Z for Undo and CTRL+SHIFT+Z for Redo, etc.

Virtual controller state is saved with project

The state of the virtual controller/keyboard is now persisted per project.

Note - Using Offline Help

Note: If you prefer to always use offline Help, go to Edit > Preferences > File > Advanced in your Cakewalk software and select Always Use Offline Help.

If you are not connected to the internet, your Cakewalk software will default to showing offline help until an internet connection becomes available.
